Tongue Thrust Treatment

Tongue Thrust if persist after the babies could move the food to the back part of mouth results in orofacial problems. The child may have speech problems, chewing problems, sticking out of their mouth and displaced teeth which results in orthodontic treatment.

The parents should consult the dentist. Dentist recommend speech pathologist to have the speech problems resolved with their help. The treatment might take three to four months to have the speech pattern and might take up to a year in some children. The treatment is about the position of the tongue, and the swallowing process . The children learn to keep their tongue in floor of mouth, and to swallow solid and liquid foods. The treatment mitigates the tongue thrust condition and the children will have speech patterns, swallowing process.
