Is Ear Infection and Teething Related?

Teething and ear infection signs might be similar and related to each other. Parents believe that teething causes ear infection . The signs of teething such as ear pain, tugging their ear, trouble sleeping, crying do occurs in ear infection . Parents should understand that the ear infection is not related to teething. Parents should consult with pediatrician to diagnose the ear infection. If the ear infection is not tested at the proper time, the child's hearing could be impaired. The ear infection is usually caused by bacterial infection in the middle ear behind the air filled ear drum. The ear infection could be treated by

  • Wait and see

  • In milder cases, it's best for the infection to heal on its own

  • Over-the-counter pain relief

  • Use the correct pain reliever dosage specific to your baby's age

  • Anesthetic drops

  • For numbing the pain

  • Antibiotics

  • Depending on their age, length of infection, and fever temperature, antibiotics may be recommended

  • Tubes
