Endeavors to Quality Oral Health Care

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) defines “quality of care” as "the degree to which healthcare services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge". Dental providers work hard to deliver skilled, thoughtful and quality care. Measures help the providers, showing where systems are breaking down and where they are succeeding to help patients get and stay well. Measurement forms the basis of evaluation and has the main goal of the office of planning, Analysis, and Evaluation to improve healthcare quality. Performance measures are tools to assess healthcare against recognized standards and are of importance to providers, patients, payers, and policymakers. Our organization designed a tool called "Self Evaluation Performance Measures " to evaluate the quality of oral care services.

The main objective of the Self Evaluation Performance Measures are:

  • To reduce the long waiting times.

  • To reduce overuse and underuse of dental services.

  • To have an efficient infrastructure.

  • To have equitable services for all community members.

  • To Deliver patient centered oral care services.

  • To provide safe treatment techniques.

Our organization with our survey tool evaluates their recent dental experiences which help to improve the satisfactory rate of patients as they are more frequently to have developed bad attitudes towards providers which eventually results in dental phobias and dental anxiety disorders. Moreover, we further discuss the concerns, anxieties, and worries of the patients with the dental providers to identify the difficulties in achieving quality care and to amend changes in the system to improve the satisfactory rate of the patients.
